Day-By-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Depart Carlisle, PA and travel to Latham, NY for an overnight stay. Century House

Day 2 – After Breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive along Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Visits today will include Fort Ticonderoga & the CBS licensed Star Trek Original Movie Set, before heading across the Lake Champlain Bridge into Vermont, for our 2-night stay in Waterbury, Vermont. (B,D)  Best Western Plus Waterbury-Stowe

Day 3 – After breakfast, our guide today will take us to the largest deep-hole dimension granite quarry in the world, Rock of Ages! Next, it’s on to the state capital of Montpelier, before visiting an 8th generation maple sugar syrup producer. Did you know it takes forty gallons of maple sap to produce just ONE gallon of pure Vermont maple syrup? From the country to the mountains, we’ll visit the famed Trapp Family Lodge for a history tour of the Von Trapp family. (B,D)

Day 4 – Following breakfast, our guide will take us to experience some fun Vermont exclusives in the morning, where you’ll have the choice between an International Coffee Lab Learning & Tasting or a locally owned florist for Centerpiece Making! As “folksy as a yellowed New England postcard”, the charming & idyllic village of Stowe is where we’ll enjoy lunch today. The Grande Dame of the Green Mountain ski resorts, with no chain stores in sight, you’ll have at-leisure time to peruse the local artisan shops. Next, we’ll head to the infamous Ben and Jerry’s. From there, it’s just a bit more of a drive to the quintessential Basin Harbor Resort, that sits right on the shores of Lake Champlain.  Tonight will be yours to enjoy dinner & the resort at leisure. This charming property is where we’ll call home for the next 3 nights. (B)  Basin Harbor Resort, Vergennes

Day 5 – During breakfast, we’ll be treated to a morning greeting/talk by the owners of this charming resort and learn why it’s such a special place. With a late morning departure, you’ll have time to soak up the views of Lake Champlain with the Adirondack Mountains in the background, stretch your legs with a walk around the stunning grounds, partake in the many activities the resort offers, or visit the Maritime Museum that’s located right on property.

Our guide will then show us to the Shelburne Museum, commonly referred to as “New England’s Smithsonian”, a wine tasting at the Shelburne Vineyard and ending our day with dinner at a local Sugarhouse (think everything maple!). (B,D)

Day 6 – After breakfast, we’ll enjoy the views of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains from the water, as we take a boat ride on Lake Champlain with a local, leaving right from the resort. Lunch today will be at the Middlebury Inn, commonly referred to as the “Bob Newhart Inn”. Remember Larry, Daryl, and Daryl? Next, it’s to the horses we go; there’s nothing more majestic than watching a Morgan Horse in its glory and we’ll see just that up close and personal, with a visit to the unique Morgan Horse Farm. Tonight, we’ll be treated to a delicious gourmet dinner, prepared especially by the chef at Basin Harbor. (B,L,D)

Day 7 – Today, we head to the “Norman Rockwell-like” town of Bennington, Vermont. Stops will include New England Maple Museum, The Vermont Country Store, and Hildene (the Lincoln Home and Formal Gardens). Following dinner at a local favorite, we’ll check-in to the hotel for our final 2 nights together. (B,D)  Hampton Inn Bennington

Day 8 – Our last day of roaming will include a tour of Bennington Covered Bridges and Bennington Museum with a docent guided tour before lunch. After lunch, it’s off to a local sugar shack, where you’ll also find a wonderful assortment of hand-picked products from Vermont and can pick up those last-minute Vermont exclusive souvenirs! Dinner tonight will be at a beautiful local country club, where we can reflect on all the fond memories we made while exploring AUTHENTIC VERMONT!  (B,D)

Day 9 – After breakfast, it’s time to head for home. Approximate arrival back to Carlisle, PA will be 4:30pm. (B)
